Hi Monty! I was actually just thinking about posting an update, which I'll do after I reply to this.

Wow! That bike is pretty amazing! Is that the original paint? Are all of those parts original? Are you going to keep the paint, or go for a complete repainting? I still have not made up my mind. The rust keeps revealing itself more and more on my bike. Anyhow, please do keep me updated. Very cool!

Hey Bret,

Well...I hope you have gotten off to a good start. I am watching for every move you make.

I got her!! Not sure how to approach this one...polishing the chrome out...getting another set of wheels to roll her. She is all early 3rd generation Gran Sport Campy. The pics look worse than they really are. Alot is dust, grime, and spots, not as much rust as it looks. Simple green - long soaks seem to help with cleaning the parts. The paint...thats another story. I think she is actually a 53'. I was told to take out the bb and the date would be on the inside.

Enjoy the pics...

Hey Monty, thanks for the comment and encouragement! I'm hoping to start in on disassembling the bike this week. We'll see how the free time goes. I'd love to see some photos of your bike, sounds like a great deal! I'm still learning too, and there appears to be a lot to learn. Best of luck to you. Keep in touch!

Bret,

Cudos to you for the restoration you are about to begin!! Enjoy every moment and good luck with it!!

Doesn't the past of these bikes and the life that is still in them just haunt you???

I have one in way worse shape I believe I am going to pick up by the weekend. The guy is selling it to me for $150....so much work to be done but the potential is there... I can't not do it!!
A Bianchi with Campy parts. WOW. I am new to Bianchi and not familiar with models. Looks very much like yours. I hope to watch your progress and learn.

Cheers!
